Saudi Arabia has announced new rules for the Hajj pilgrimage in 2025, focusing on safety and organization. These new measures include a ban on children and visa restrictionsand new payment options.
Children banned
For the first time, children will not be allowed to participate in the Hajj to protect them from the dangers of crowds and facilitate the pilgrimage. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has pointed out that managing large crowds in potentially dangerous situations makes the presence of young children risky.
Priority to new pilgrims
Pilgrims making the Hajj for the first time will be given priority in 2025. This decision aims to give as many Muslims as possible the opportunity to make this spiritual journey at least once in their lives.
Payment options
New payment options have been introduced for domestic pilgrims, including the possibility of paying in three installments. A deposit of 20 % is required within 72 hours of booking, followed by two equal instalments of 40 % before Ramadan 20 (March 20, 2025) and Shawwal 20 (April 19, 2025). Reservations will be confirmed only after receipt of the last instalment.
Visa restrictions Visa policies have been tightened to prevent unauthorized participation in the Hajj. Since February 1, 2025, nationals of 14 countries can only obtain single-entry visas. This measure aims to limit the misuse of multiple-entry visas to perform the Hajj without official registration. The authorities point out that unauthorized pilgrimages unnecessarily increase crowd density at the holy sites, making it more difficult to control movements and guarantee security. |
The 2025 Hajj will start around June 4 or 6 and end on June 11. Saudi citizens and residents can register via the Nusuk app or the official website. It is imperative that applicants verify their information and register their travel companions.
