Indonesia launches a new website and changes the name of its electronic visas

On January 9, the Indonesian government launched a new website for electronic visa applications.

All visa applications must use the https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/ and no longer https://molina.imigrasi.go.id/.

As a result, the visa sub-types on the website will have new visa codes, used by immigration authorities to refer to the visa type, which will appear on visas issued. For example, B211 A/B visa is now a tourist or business visa and the B213 visa is now a visa-on-arrival ("visa on arrival"), as it requires a micro-procedure once in Indonesia, in addition to the online procedure.

Foreign nationals and employers should expect delays of around 5 working days in the allocation of visas during the first week following the launch of the system, as the transition to the new online system takes place.

To access the new system, employers who already have an online account will have to re-register, which should take around 5 to 10 minutes. A digital photo ID of the signatory is required. However, for companies just starting to use the new system, the process will take around 3 working days.

This major change in the Indonesian visa system is part of a worldwide trend towards the digitization of immigration procedures, offering greater efficiency and traceability. Indonesian e-visas, like those of other countries, aim to simplify the process of obtaining visas, while improving the security and management of migration flows.

Since last year, with the exception of a few ASEAN countriestourists from most countries are required to obtain a 60-day visa (Visa de Tourisme, fire-B211A) by providing statements of account or a 30-day renewable Visa-on-Arrival (feu-Visitor Visa), which is easier to obtain, but requires a small procedure on arrival. It costs IDR 500,000 (26 €) for the latter.
