From May 1, 2025, Nigeria will reach a new milestone in the modernizing its immigration policy with the official launch of two major new products: electronic visa (e-Visa) and arrival card. These measures are designed to simplify, speed up and secure entry into Nigeria for international travelers, whether tourists, businessmen or investors.
Initially, the launch of the e-visa was announced on March 1, 2025. On April 09, a new ad was published from the Minister of the Interior's X account, Olubunmi Tunji-OjoMinister of the Interior. Electronic Visa (e-Visa)
- Travelers will be able to complete their entire visa application online, without having to visit an embassy or consulate.
- The procedure is entirely paperless: submission of the application, uploading of the required documents (passport, plane ticket, hotel reservation, etc.), secure payment of the visa fee and receipt of the visa by e-mail.
- Visa approval is expected within 24 to 48 hours, considerably reducing waiting times on arrival.
- This system is open to all foreign travelers, except those from countries benefiting from a visa waiver with Nigeria.
Arrival card electronics
- In addition to e-Visa, an electronic entry and exit card will also be introduced from May 1, 2025.
- This card is designed to streamline formalities on arrival in and departure from the countryby replacing paper forms with a digital solution, accessible online before the trip.
