Serbia is on the verge of launch an electronic visa systemThis new service enables eligible travelers to apply for a visa online, simplifying the process of entering the country before they travel. Thanks to official online platform "Welcome to Serbia", it will no longer be necessary to visit an embassy or consulate.
The initiative follows a Serbian government announcement on March 19, which highlighted collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Office for Information Technology and eGovernment. The agreement signed between Marko Đurić, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Mihail Jovanović, Director of the Office, covers. improving and maintaining the visa information system.

The authorities have confirmed that the online visa application system and the Welcome to Serbia" portal have been operational since February last year. He also stressed the importance of state data centers for cybersecurity and data protection. Jovanović noted the success of the Portal for Foreigners, which has so far processed 43,961 applications for temporary residence and single work permits. Improvements are also underway for Expo 2027 Belgrade.
Although many countries are visa-free for short-term stays in Serbia, citizens of certain countries in Africa, Asia and the Middle East are still required to obtain a visa.
